Experiences with Spinal Cord Stimulator in Patients with Chronic Neuropathic Back Pain

Two thematic findings emerged: (1) pain relief with spinal cord stimulation as a complex and individual experience and (2) challenges in adaptations in everyday life with spinal cord stimulation. Randomized Controlled Trial of Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery Versus Supportive Expressive Group Therapy for Distressed Survivors of Breast Cancer (MINDSET)

Conclusion In the largest trial to date, MBCR was superior for improving a range of psychological outcomes for distressed survivors of breast cancer. Management of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: A pilot randomised controlled trial using Nevasic audio programme. (Manchester eScholar – The University of Manchester)

The findings from the trial highlight that conducting a non-pharmacological intervention using such an audio programme is feasible, although difficulties and limitations exist. This study did not detect any evidence for the effectiveness of Nevasic on CINV; however, the results show statistically significant less use of anti-emetics (post-chemotherapy) (p=0.03) and borderline non-significant (p=0.06) better global health status in Nevasic group.

The effects of participation in leisure activities on neuropsychiatric symptoms of persons with cognitive impairment: A cross-sectional study

These results can be used by home health or community health nurses to design tailored leisure-activity plans for improving the care quality of patients with cognitive impairment. Health professionals can develop leisure-education programmes to emphasize the value of leisure pursuit and to modify attitudes toward participating in leisure activities. Finally, parks and recreational agencies may re-examine their services and facilities to meet the increasing needs of this population.

Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Cancer Patients: A Four-Arm Randomized Trial on the Effectiveness of Electroacupuncture

The used EA concept, HB, and VitB were not superior to placebo. Since, contrary to our results, studies with different acupuncture concepts showed a positive effect on CIPN, the effect of acupuncture on CIPN remains unclear. Further randomized, placebo controlled studies seem necessary.
